It’s a balmy 2 degrees this morning. 40 tomorrow and then into the deep freeze, my least favorite part of winter.
I am very sad to report the passing of Owen Melville on Monday evening, January 19. Owen was on hospice for over a year and a half, defying all odds. Owen came into our family during Covid, when he and Susan decided to “shelter in place” together at Susan’s. Susan and Owen were classmates at Gould Academy, and Owen grew up right beside our grandparents’ house in Locke Mills. He led a full and interesting life, serving in the Marines and in the Peace Corps, as well as hosting his own local tv show! He loved to eat, and wasn’t at all bashful about it. Many a package from QVC came his way, satisfying his love for kitchen gadgets. Owen was a great guy and we will miss him terribly. A funeral service is scheduled for this coming Saturday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the Locke Mills Union Church.
